Looming adjacent to its twin, Lohagad, Visapur Fort stands taller and covers a much larger area. While Lohagad has paved steps and is highly manicured, Visapur is raw. Built by Balaji Vishwanath (the first Peshwa), this fort was designed to be imposing.
During the monsoon, the rocky trail up to Visapur transforms dramatically into an active waterfall. Trekking against the cascading water makes this one of the most thrilling and sought-after experiences in the Sahyadris.

Unlike other forts, much of the protective wall at Visapur is still intact. Walking along the fortified wall perimeter provides panoramic views of the expressway, Lohagad fort, and the lush green Pawna lake backwaters.
Other highlights include:
- Peshwa Palace Ruins: Remnants of the old Wada.
- Large Water Cisterns: Carved into the rock.
- The Hanuman Temple: A large carving of Maruti (Hanuman) etched directly into the rock face.
